CFP Board Appoints John M. Loper, CFP® as Director of Corporate Relations

Senior-level Position Focused on Building Relationships, Raising Visibility

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) announced today that it has hired John M. Loper, CFP® as Director of Corporate Relations, a position to help the organization strengthen its presence in the financial services marketplace.

The Director of Corporate Relations will serve as a contact for key executives at financial service firms. This position is vitally important to increasing top financial service firms’ preference for and investment in CFP® certification. The role is also central to CFP Board’s overall growth strategy and will be responsible for leading key initiatives.

Additional responsibilities of the position include supporting efforts to incorporate CFP® certification in firms practices as well as their new adviser training and professional development programs. The position reports to Joseph Maugeri, CFP®, the Managing Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations, who was recently promoted from the position to which Loper has been appointed.

Keller, CAE. “As a CFP® professional, John understands the value of the CFP® certification to advisors, firms and clients. He will be an invaluable member of our team as he works with firms to institutionalize the certification and promote financial planning as a benefit for firms’ clients.”

Prior to his appointment at CFP Board, Loper was Vice President and Regional Planning Consultant at Fidelity Investments, where he had responsibility for increasing the usage and delivery of Fidelity’s financial planning tools. Loper was also a Director at TIAA-CREF Wealth Management Group and previously held leadership positions at Ameriprise Financial for more than ten years. His past experience also includes serving as Captain in the U.S. Air Force.

Loper holds an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami. He received the CFP® certification in 2001.
