Certified Financial PlannerTM
professional Mike Greene has been elected to serve as the 2015 Chair-elect of CFP Board’s Board of Directors, a role in which he will use his experience to lead the organization that now certifies more than 72,000 CFP® professionals in the United States.

Greene
has served on the Board of Directors for CFP Board since 2012. Greene is currently senior vice president of financial planning and advisor business development at Ameriprise Financial, overseeing the firm’s financial planning business.

“Through the power of financial planning, CFP® professionals make a difference in peoples’ lives each and every day,” said Greene. “As I take on new responsibilities with CFP Board, I look forward to finding ways to ensure all Americans have access to these important services.”

Before joining Ameriprise in 2002, Greene worked at McKinsey & Company, CNH Global N.V. and served as an officer in the U.S. Army. He received his Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

“Mike is a passionate leader who represents the best of the profession. He is a vocal advocate for the financial planning profession, the CFP® certification and the need for more advisors to obtain the certification so that they can help Americans with their most important financial decisions,” said CFP Board of Directors Chair Richard Rojeck, CFP®.

The Board of Directors elected Greene to the new role at its June 2015 meeting. He will serve out the term of G. Joseph Votava, Jr., CFP®, who resigned as Chair-elect earlier this year due to personal and business reasons. Greene will become Chair of CFP Board in 2016.
