CFP Board Names Kerry Smith as Director of Human Resources

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) today announced that it has appointed Kerry Smith as its Director of Human Resources, a role in which she will be responsible for strategic and tactical management of the organization’s human resources programs and policies.   

As Director of Human Resources, Smith will oversee and direct CFP Board’s talent management strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and priorities.  She will focus on strengthening the human resource programs, policies and practices that retain and attract high performing talent to the organization. She assumes this role May 30.

Stewart. “Kerry is a seasoned Human Resources professional known for her expertise, creativity and collaboration.  In addition, she is recognized for developing innovative programs that support professional development and facilitate a results-oriented workplace.”

Smith comes to CFP Board from the National Retail Federation (NRF), where she spent the last 11 years in successively responsible human resources positions, most recently as Vice President of Human Resources. At the NRF, she oversaw the development and implementation of human resources policies and programs including recruitment, retention, legal compliance, benefits and compensation, employee relations and training, payroll management and performance management. She began her career as an HR Assistant with the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Smith is a Board Member for the Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia and volunteers with Georgetown University’s Meyers Institute for College Preparation. She holds a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of the District of Columbia, and is pursuing an M.S. in Management with a concentration in HR at The Catholic University of America.
