ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

 

 

To create a more diverse and sustainable financial planning profession, CFP Board Center for Financial Planning offers this special scholarship providing financial assistance to eligible candidates taking the November 2023 CFP® exam. Thanks to the generous donation from the Peggy Ward Financial Education Center within North Carolina Central University’s School of Business, this scholarship covers the full cost of early bird November 2023 CFP® exam registration for qualified Black or African American candidates ($825 value).

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must not be registered to take the November 2023 CFP® exam, must meet eligibility criteria and successfully complete the application form below. CFP Board will award scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants.

CFP Board will notify awardees that they received the scholarship and will work with them to register them for the November 2023 exam at no cost. Only register for the exam after being notified of the award, or you will forfeit the scholarship. This scholarship does not retroactively reimburse exam registrations already paid for before receiving the scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must identify as Black or African American.
  • Must not be registered for the November 2023 CFP® exam prior to being notified of the award.
  • After being notified of the scholarship award, must register for the November 2023 CFP® exam by the early bird registration deadline of September 5.
  • If you are registering for the exam before your education has been verified, an awardee must submit verification of completed education coursework by October 3. If you register for the exam, but your education coursework is not verified as completed by Oct 3, you will have to postpone the exam and incur a $500 postponement fee that is not refundable under this scholarship.
  • Upon registering for the exam, awardee will have until October 17 to secure an exam seat with Prometric. Failure to secure an exam with Prometric will result in de-registration and postponement of the exam, including a postponement fee of $500 that is not refundable under this scholarship.
  • Must be a U.S. resident.
  • Must not receive any other scholarships or financial aid toward the November 2023 CFP® exam (including but not limited to employer funding).
  • Must pass a background check conducted by CFP Board.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applications will only be accepted through the application form below. Please do not attempt to submit application materials via mail, fax or email. When submitting the application, please pay close attention to what is required.

AWARD PROCESS

Following the application review, awards will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis to applicants who meet the eligibility requirements and successfully complete the application. After receiving the award, recipients will be provided with instructions for registering for the exam at no cost.

AWARD POLICIES

If you are registering for the exam before your education has been verified, an awardee must submit verification of completed education coursework by October 3. APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application window will be open until August 27, 2023.

AWARD DECISION
