CFP Board Seeks Qualified Candidates for 2014 Board of Directors

May 08, 2013

CFP Board is currently accepting applications for individuals interested in serving on its Board of Directors, the strategic governing body of the organization, beginning in January 2014.

CFP Board is the certifying, standards-setting, marks-issuing and disciplinary body that owns the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP® certification marks in the U.S. and regulates their use in the public interest.  The Board is the organization’s policy-making and oversight body.  Board Directors have a significant opportunity and responsibility to participate in guiding the policy direction of the organization, working with the Board Chair, the CEO and other Directors to provide strategic leadership for CFP Board.

Board Directors serve four-year terms, and each year, only two to four new Board positions are available.  The Board has 3 regularly scheduled meetings each year in March, July and November. Board Directors are also assigned to at least one committee, such as our Audit & Finance, Appeals, Governance and Nominating Committees.  Committee meetings are generally scheduled by phone or around Board meetings.

To learn more about this opportunity, review the Position and Candidate Specifications document outlining the duties of a Board Director and download a Board Volunteer application (PDF, 337KB – Remember to save the PDF document to your computer before filling it out).

Candidate applications will be carefully reviewed and selected candidates will be interviewed by the Committee during the summer. To demonstrate interest, please complete the application no later than June 14, 2013.

We appreciate your consideration of this opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to CFP Board’s work to achieve our mission of upholding the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for competent and ethical financial planning.
