Holding both CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation gives you a competitive edge. Not only can you focus on holistic personal financial planning that your clients need, but also extend a fiduciary arm to serving their best interests.

How CFP® Certification Differs from the ChFC®

Thousands of CFP® professionals have indicated they also hold the ChFC® designation. These two credentials are widely recognized in the financial services industry, but CFP® certification is the standard of excellence in personal financial planning and the most recognized by consumers and potential clients. It signifies that you are trained and experienced in comprehensive financial planning, acting in the best interests of your clients at all times, and charting a course for their secure future.

“In the three years since earning the CFP® certification, I’ve obtained as many assets under management as I had in the prior thirteen years of not having a CFP® certification.”

— Jeremy Tyler, CFP®, ChFC®

For those who already hold the ChFC®, earning CFP® certification makes you more attractive to employers and clients alike. Holding both designations demonstrates that you're committed to serving your clients and that you offer added expertise and specialization in your profession.

Are you a ChFC®?

If so, you can take advantage of the Accelerated Path to CFP® certification. You will be eligible to sit for the CFP® examination immediately after completing a Capstone course through a CFP Board Registered Program.

Already completed Hs333 with the American College?
If you have already completed HS333 with The American College, you are eligible to sit for the CFP® exam now. Submit your HS333 completion and ChFC® verification to education@cfpboard.org.
